Small Area Management
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles are great for checking the health and status of a small farm or area of land.  With UAVs, one can monitor issues after storms, check the condition of silos and barn roofs, track down livestock, monitor fencing and perimeters.   In general, cost of these systems can be directly tied to endurance (flight time). The longer it flies, generally, the more it costs. Other major considerations are payload requirements and ground control system (GCS). Unmanned Aerial Specialists has outlined several systems performing well for short range missions. Although there are many systems in the marketplace, we favor turnkey systems with an excellent support network.

Sensors for small area monitoring are divided into two categories
Daytime (E/O or Electro-Optical) and Night Time (I/R or Infrared).

Infrared Sensors
I/R Sensors are perfect for detecting the heat signature of animals at night.  The appropriate I/R Sensor can locate that animal that separated from the herd.  It has been suggested that the correct I/R Sensor could help detect which animals are affected from illness by determining elevated temperatures.

Gimbals can include an Infrared sensor along side an E/O camera, or independently. Infrared Sensors cover a wide range of capabilities including resolution, zoom-ability, and sensitivity.  We work closely with our clients to find the Infrared sensor which best suits their needs.  To learn more, visit our Sensors Page or contact us for more information HERE.  Be sure to let us know you're interested in I/R sensors.
