Short Range Tactical Surveillance and Monitoring
Short range missions are defined up to a distance of 1.2 Kilometers. These are typically a multi-rotor design with room underneath for a small payload. In general, cost of these systems can be directly tied to endurance (flight time). The longer it flies, generally, the more it costs. Other major considerations are payload requirements and ground control system (GCS). Unmanned Aerial Specialists has outlined several systems performing well for short range missions. Although there are many systems in the marketplace, we favor turnkey systems with an excellent support network.

Sensors for short range tactical surveillance are divided into two categories
Daytime (E/O or Electro-Optical) and Night Time (I/R or Infrared). These two can be combined for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.
Infrared Sensors
I/R Sensors are perfect for subject monitoring in darkness. I/R Sensors detect heat signatures. I/R Sensors can indicate for instance, recent use of automobile engines or heat emission from under a cover.
Gimbals can include an Infrared sensor along side an E/O camera, or independently. Infrared Sensors cover a wide range of capabilities including resolution, zoom-ability, and sensitivity. ISR Payloads
ISR solutions can combine a number of sensors, but the most typical work up is an infrared sensor combined with a camera. Laser range finders or indicators can be added.
